So I definitely had a bad start to my morning, needless to say I was very coffee deprived. Contrary to popular belief, even though I work with coffee it does not always mean I get a chance to actually drink it. So it was not til I was out of work grabbing a bite to eat at a cafe that I was able to finally get my hands on a cappuccino. At this particular cafe I am definitely a regular and eleven out of ten times I order a capp from this one guy. Which brings up a very annoying anecdote for any and every regular espresso drinker that when you get used to the way one, specific person makes your beverage if anyone else makes it YOU WILL NOT LIKE IT. YOU WILL COMPLAIN OR SUCK IT UP AND DRINK IT AS IS. Being a barista I'm not the average customer; so when I see someone not frothing my milk when I clearly want some damn foam really annoys me. On the other hand, I hate awkward situations, making people offended and sending food or drinks back for fear of spitting (as you all should be) and I was now surrounded by all three. Here's why I uncharacteristically gave my drink back this morning:
1. If the only size for a to go cup in this specific store is 16oz. why was I given a 4oz cup? More importantly, if the lid and sleeve does not seem to fit because the cup is too small why would you still pass it off with a lid falling off and no sleeve?
2. If I'm paying almost five dollars for this 4oz cup can you at least make sure its filled up all the way? And not 3/4 of the way?
3. If I order a smaller cappuccino than what I normally get, why would it be heavier? Did I say latte?
4. Did I not just say I really needed coffee?
I could go on but I don't find it necessary. I'm sure I have made my case clear, I was not being a bitch as there were multiple reasons for this guy (that looks brand new to the restaurant) to make my drink the way *it was supposed to.* Not even how *I* like it, just the very basic level of a cappuccino.
Do you have an annoying anecdote from the "new girl/guy"?
